About me

An interdisciplinary path into additive manufacturing.

I'm Ashwin Bernard, an M.Sc. Optical Technologies student at Leibniz University Hannover. My current interests are additive-manufacturing design, CAD, experimentation and prototyping.

I began with a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and then worked for three years as a software engineer. That experience gave me a structured approach to complex problems, teamwork and building reliable technical solutions.

During my master's studies, I became increasingly interested in laser material processing and additive manufacturing because they combine design, materials, experimentation and real physical applications. I am now working toward roles involving additive-manufacturing design and technology in aerospace, automotive, medical technology and advanced manufacturing.

Professional experience

Software engineering before engineering research.

Software Engineer

Experion Technologies · India

February 2021 – March 2024

  • Developed production web and mobile applications using React, Next.js, React Native, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Integrated backend APIs and created reusable interface components for scalable applications.
  • Worked with designers, backend developers and testers in agile, cross-functional teams.
  • Supported junior developers through technical guidance, onboarding and code reviews.

How this supports my engineering work

My software background helps me structure experiments, automate repetitive analysis, process technical data and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Education

A foundation across engineering disciplines.
